COD MW2 Map Pack Update: “Stimulus Package”

COD MW2 Map Pack Update: “Stimulus Package”

I’ve been enjoying the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer since the day it was released (despite all the bullshit like hackers, care package glitchers, etc.) and I’m pretty excited about the new map pack being released. The scheduled release date for the Xbox 360 is March 30, 2010, and is bound to renew interest in the game.

[ UPDATE: Check out some confirmed footage and info here]

What a lot of people are wondering, including myself, is what maps are they going to release with this update? Popular COD 4 maps? Some reworked maps from the single player campaign? If I had to hazard a guess I’d say a combination of both.

An Infinity Ward press release had this to say,

Begin the countdown to a new infusion of Call of Duty! The Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Stimulus Package will strike worldwide on March 30. Representing the first new multiplayer maps from the biggest entertainment launch in history, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package will release first on Xbox LIVE®.

Additionally, Silver Xbox LIVE members who have not yet experienced the exciting adrenaline rush of “Modern Warfare 2” will be able to try it with a Multiplayer Unlock event running from March 12 to March 15.

This message appears to validate what was seen in a video leaked last week, that claims to have footage of the new maps (see below). In it you see COD 4 clasics such as Crash, Shipment, Vacant and Overgrown. As well as new maps named Abandon, DCWH-The White House, Compact, Revolt, Complex and Storm. I’ll embed the video bellow but Activision has been taking them down pretty quick so who knows how long it’ll be up.
